Time for Some Feng Shui

BulletProof Consulting

I bet you’ve heard the term Feng Shui.

It’s an ancient Chinese traditional practice that claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. Quite literally, the term means “wind-water.”

At the very least, I assume you have heard it associated with balancing your energy and bringing more wealth and abundance into your world. And if you’ve paid closer attention, you know that Feng Shui has a lot to do with decluttering, reorganizing, blocking and releasing areas in your home or office spaces.

Kinda like the old-fashioned, it’s spring, so that must mean cleaning time. And hey, did you know that the first day of the Persian new year begins on the first day of spring? So even today, Iranians will ‘shake the house’ and clear it clean to ring in their new year.

Why on earth am I sharing cultural traditions?

Because we can all use a bit of energy realignment and spring cleaning ourselves. Having endured more than two years of a pandemic, the beginnings of another world war, and umpteen other crazy things over the last few years, I believe we can all use a bit of cleansing.

Since I’ve been doing it myself, I thought I would share my process with you. It’s not difficult, though it does take a bit of effort for most of us.

The first step. Ask yourself some questions.

-Is something in your life weighing you down?
-Is it time for you to finally let go of the voices in your head? Y’know the ones that keep you from leaping forward into a better situation?
-Can you make space for yourself and for hearing your own thoughts?
-Can you declutter your schedule and stop trying to do it all?
-Can you finally let others manage their own baggage rather than allowing them to dump on you continually?

The second step. Find a neat and unchaotic space you can call your own.

-Can you find a quiet, organized and tidy area to sit?
-When was the last time you made a small corner of your house or office or even backyard a beautiful little oasis for you to sit and think?
-Are you cluttering up your physical living spaces with things because you are afraid of losing your energetic connection to the past, to people who are no longer in your life, to goals you never pursued?
-Or even because you would feel guilty if you got rid of them?
-How uncluttered is your den or your home office?

The third step. The sweep.

-Remove all those physical reminders of who you are not.
-Keep just the objects that reflect who you are, who you are becoming, and who you aspire to be.
-If something is no longer making you feel joyful, empowered, and excited, let it go and free yourself to leap into something new.
-Take pride in the organized surfaces of all the counters, tops and desks you see.
-Now, can you finally take that leap of trusting — that you will always have what you need?

Here’s what I know for sure.

Spring is the best season to declutter, release, and reenergize your surroundings, spaces, and yourself. Feng Shui!

A little bit of spic and spam is not quite enough. Should you decide to apply a tiny bit of elbow grease to the project, I promise. You will assuredly have more abundance, blessings, and wealth in your life, relationships, and business.

If you need help getting started or keeping it going, you know where I am!
